Celebrating the City Night in Vinnytsya
The City Night is the alternative event to the usual culture venues, and the one that brought together those concerned about Vinnytsya cultural life and indifferent to standard format of usual performances. The night kicked off on 11 September with the quest, which required good knowledge of the city history, even informal history, as well as the usual agility and dexterity. For the quest, Capuchin friars even opened the dungeons of the Blessed Virgin Maria Angielska Church, while on the quest completion the players were greeted (for about half-night) at the Festyvalny Island by the members of the Klondike Band. On the next evening the celebration continued in the city park with such performances as "Good Bye, the book" by the Popular Creativity Lab and a music session on the stairs in front of the huge square: the bands included the Cheshire Dog, the Rapira, the Infanta, the Banditos Band, and of course, the Klondike Band. The celebration was closed with another performance of the Lab - "The Jewish Luck". Menahem-Mendl film was shown using the wall of half-ruined building in Jerusalimka, old neighbourhood once populated by the Jews. This film by Aleksiy Granovsky was shot in 1925, partly here, in Jerusalimka, together with the famed Ukrainian-Jewish writer Isaak Babel after the short stories by Sholom-Aleihem. People played, danced... Good night.
